My First Happy Shake

Image
I have been seeing the posts on face book from a friend who I don't even really know, but I love her.  Her name is Stacy Stowers and she is a raw food chef.  She travels around the country and makes her living by going to peoples homes for a week and teaching them to create a raw food life style.  She shares her love of food along with her original recipes and her perky happy self with them, while she cooks and educates them!  I hope to have her to my house some day.  In the mean time I have read many, many posts about her Happy Shake because she makes them every morning for her families.  In fact for anyone within spitting distance!  Ha, ha!  So today (drum roll please) is the day I decided to make my first happy shake!  If you read my blog you will know that I could use a little happy right now!  So here it is, I did it!  It was sooooo easy!  So I will send you to Stacy's website and you to can make your first happy shake! ...

Yoga 101: Legs Up the Wall Pose

Image
Need to relax?  Try putting your legs up the wall. Viparita Karani, the sanskrit name for this yoga pose is a wonderful secret I discovered in a yoga class.  The benefits of this pose are many.  This soothing restorative posture calms the nervous system, eases muscle fatigue, and helps restore healthy, restful breathing.  It is also a wonderful way to deeply relax, boost your immune system and give you a few moments of deep introspection.  I would write more but I'm heading to my bedroom to put my legs up the wall!  Try it, you will like it!

How Do You Say Goodbye.......

Jeanette and Randy Even as I write this, the events of the past four weeks are still surreal to me.  How can everything in your life change with one phone call?  It is the stuff novels and movies are made of but not my life and certainly not the life of my sister.  How does something like this happen? For us it was the beginning of Spring Break April 2011.  We had planned a trip to the Pacific Northwest the place where my sister and I had been born and raised.  My husband the planner had rented a house on the Peninsula of Washington State, a place called Morrowstone Island, near Port Townsend.  He had also charted the boat we had rented two summers ago and was planning to spend a lot of time aboard perusing the picturesque islands of the San Juan chain.  It was all set and we made our way there in two car loads and at two different speeds.  Brad, eager to arrive and take possession of the boat left friday afternoon with Liz (daughter 23), Mac...
