Brenda Came to Town Day One

We picked Brenda up at the Airport and then we went straight to Lahaina to see a performance by the Polynesian Cultural Center dancers.  They had sailed the boat from the PCC called the Iosepha.  This is a hand carved canoe that they made at the PCC.  It has a great story I won't take the time to tell here but maybe later on one of my posts.
First Stop was dinner at one of our favorite plate lunch places in Lahaina!  It's so beautiful and right on the water and the food is so good!  
The dancers were so amazing!  It was like a mini PCC performance just for us!
Before the performance started they handed out leis that they had brought from the students who did not make the trip.  It was so fun that they brought one to Brenda and then we each got one too.  It was so cool!  I love the leis.  I can't wait to learn how to make them.



They even had fire dancers.  This is a girl pictured here and her dad was one of the most amazing firedancers ever at the PCC but let me tell you she is AMAZING!  So so good!

Amanda's Mission Call

We waited 10 long weeks for Amanda's mission call to come!  She turned in her papers on December 16th and her call didn't arrive until February 20th.  That is an unusually long time to be waiting.  All around her friends and friends of friends were getting calls returned in as little as 1-3 weeks.  We were all starting to get discouraged.  Due to the new lower missionary age requirement we had been hearing that the MTC was being full to over flowing and we were beginning to worry that she wouldn't head out for her mission until late summer.  Not really what she planned on!  The last few weeks were especially difficult and I could tell Amanda was beginning to question and wonder if she had made the right decision and why in the world this was taking so long. Girl's Spa Day Out Gone Very Wrong!

A few weeks ago I and a few of my cute co-workers decided to go for a "Girl's Spa Day"! We booked "Bodywraps" and talked about it for weeks, how fun it would be and how many inches we would lose. When they asked if we all wanted to be in the same room we replied sure..it would be more fun that way. We were pumped! The big day arrives and we show up at the appointed hour....little did we know. We each had our own personal body wrapper who escorted us into one big room with four beds and said, "Okay, take off your clothes!" We looked at each other, looked at them and said, "Ummmm, we are not that kind of friends." Hailey didn't mind as she was the only one with regular unmentionables. The rest of us had to don the "paper underwear" that they keep for just such occasions....oh my, it was like wearing a paper thong! We begged for robes...an essential part of any spa experience I have ever had...and were brought some towels ...
